Jyothi Engineering College is a Center of Excellence in Science & Technology founded by the Catholic Archdiocese of Thrissur situated in Cheruthuruthy, Thrissur.

Jyothi Engineering College (JEC) set up in 2002, under the aegis of Trichur Educational Trust, founded by the Catholic Archdiocese of Trichur, is a leading Engineering College in Kerala. The Archdiocese of Trichur has an illustrious track record of a century and a quarter in the education sector. St. Thomas High School was established in 1889. St. Thomas College (Autonomous), Thrissur, is one of the leading centers of higher education in Kerala since 1919. This institution is older than all the Universities in Kerala and currently is one of the largest and most reputed Arts and Science Colleges in the State. The Archdiocese of Trichur has also set up Jubilee Mission Medical College & Research Institute, an institution of excellence in medical education and research. Additionally, the Archdiocese of Trichur, as a mark of its commitment to the field of higher education, runs St. Mary's ITC, Kacheri, Thyagarajar Polytechnic Technical Institute, Amballur and Thozhil Abhyasana Peedam, Madona Nagar.

We at Jyothi Engineering College are aware that our stakeholders, including students and recruiters, look for reliable information on quality education offered. Jyothi Engineering College is NAAC accredited. The NAAC instrument is developed to objectively assess and grade institutions of higher education. Five of the undergraduate programs offered by Jyothi Engineering College have NBA accreditation, which indicates that we are well recognized for the quality of education we offer. We are periodically evaluated for this stringent NBA accreditation criteria to ensure we sustain the mandated quality levels.

The worlds of study and work have changed dramatically. Students of today require different sets of skills than those of previous generations. We are in the midst of the fourth industrial revolution and the predictions are that 85% of the jobs that will exist in 2030 have not been invented yet. This volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) environment requires specialized competencies and expertise beyond what a traditional Bachelor of Technology program offers. Jyothi Engineering College hence prepares students to become T-Shaped professionals, i.e., professionals who have in-depth expertise in their discipline as well as a breadth of competencies required in the twenty-first century. Industry seeks engineers with these skills. The vertical bar on the T-shaped person is an indication of the depth of knowledge and skills in their chosen engineering stream whereas the horizontal bar represents the person's competencies in interdisciplinary areas and life skills. This contextual knowledge helps in giving students a broader perspective. T-shaped skills – or a T-shaped person – has qualities that make that employee valuable; they possess excellent knowledge of and skills in specific areas and are good at working with others in a collaborative way. In order to train our students to become “T” shaped professionals, so that they are “future ready”, we have set up an incubation centre, Integrated Industrial Incubation Centre (IIIC), in association with TATA Technologies.

In order to help students become “job creators” rather than “job seekers”, Jyothi Engineering College has also set up a Technology Business Incubator, JEC TBI, to create technology based new enterprises, foster an entrepreneurial spirit among students and commercialize R&D output. Additionally, Jyothi Engineering College offers a vibrant, beautiful, and green environmentally friendly campus, and excellent infrastructure for students, to aid the teaching and learning process.

JECT Kerala course eligibility 2024

Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech Admission in Government Quota

  1. Candidates must be citizens of India
  2. Candidates should have completed 17 years of age on 31st December 2021.
  3. Applicants should Pass Higher Secondary Examination of the Board of Higher Secondary Education of Kerala or an examination recognized equivalent thereto with at least 45% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry/equivalent subjects put together or equivalent grade.
  4. Rounding off of the percentage of marks to the next higher whole number is not permitted.                Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech Admission in Management Quota

  5. Admission is strictly on the basis of merit.

  6. Candidates must be citizens of India / Persons of Indian origin (PIO) / Overseas citizen of India (OCI). PIO/OCI candidates is not eligible for any kind of reservation.
  7. Candidates should have completed 17 years of age on 31st December 2021.
  8. Applicants should Pass Higher Secondary Examination of the Board of Higher Secondary Education of Kerala or an examination recognized equivalent thereto with at least 45% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry/equivalent subjects put together or equivalent grade.
  9. Rounding off of the percentage of marks to the next higher whole number is not permitted.
  10. Only those Applicants who qualify in Kerala Engineering Entrance Examination 2021 (KEAM 2021) conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Govt. of Kerala are eligible    

  11. Eligibility Criteria for M.Tech Admission (both Management & Government)

    Admission is strictly on the basis of merit.

  12. The candidates shall be an Indian National.
  13. The candidates should have studied the Graduate course in an institution approved by the AICTE / Deemed to be Universities in India approved by the UGC.
  14. Candidates should have a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in the Engineering Degree examination. For SC/ST candidates a pass in the Engineering Degree course is sufficient. For SEBC (OBC) students, a minimum of 54% aggregate marks in the Engineering Degree examination is mandatory.
  15. Candidates, who have passed AMIE / AMIETE Examinations and satisfying the following conditions, are eligible for admission.
    1. They must have valid GATE score.
    2. A minimum of 55% marks for section B in AMIE/AMIETE examination.
  16. Candidates who have appeared for the final semester examination can also apply, provided he / she has passed all the subjects up to and including the 6th semester exam. Confirmation of admissions of such candidates shall be subjected to the production of qualifying Degree before the date stipulated by APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University.
  17. First priority for admission shall be to those with valid GATE score.
  18. In case seats remain vacant due to lack of candidates with valid GATE score, candidates from Kerala State without valid GATE Score will be considered against such vacancies. If seats are still remaining vacant, candidates from other states will be considered for admission.
  19. Admission to the Govt. Quota will be done by the college itself from the Rank list published by the Director of Technical Education, Kerala. The Candidates have to apply to the College in the prescribed application form even if the student seek admission in Government Seats. Students who seek admission in Government Seats are advised to apply to Directorate of Technical Education (website admissions.dtekerala.gov.in/) to find a place in the Rank List prepared by DTE.
