Government College of Engineering (Formerly IRTT) was established in the year 1984. It was run by All Transport Corporations of Government of TamilNadu. The Institute has been converted as Government College. It is located in a sprawling lush green campus of 200 acres. It provides a congenial atmosphere for Technical Education. It is 15 km from Erode Railway Station and Half a km from the NH-47 between Bhavani and Chithode. The Institute offers 7 Under Graduate Degree courses in Engineering in various disciplines and 2 post graduate courses M.E Structural Engineering and M.E Computer Science & Engineering. The Institute has excellent infrastructure, well-equipped laboratories, library and highly qualified faculty members. The Institute is well known for its technical excellence, modern facilities, good performance track record and resourcefulness.

UG PROGRAM

As per TNEA, 65% of admission for govt. quota admission is done and 35% of students are admitted under management councelling. A mere pass in HSC or its equivalent with the minimum average percentage in the relevant subjects or A pass in any one of the HSC (Vocational Stream) prescribed for B.E Degree admissions or any other equivalent qualification approved by the State Board of Technical Education and Training / Higher Secondary Board of Tamilnadu / Anna University for Engineering Admissions.

PG PROGRAM

In order to be eligible for the examination the candidates must fulfill the following criteria. The candidates must have cleared any one of the following Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in the relevant field with a minimum of 50 % (45 % in the case of candidates belonging to reserved category)

A Separate placement section is functioning to arrange for campus interviews and other placement works under the guidance of Dr.Tharvish Mohideen , Professor& Head, Mechanical Engineering Department. Every Year above 90% of students are placed in various campanies. At IRT Tech, each department has placement representative and a student cell co-ordinator .

The Placement section is well organized by our students. They play their role very well in training the students for the placements. The aim of our placement section is to have 100 percent placement in GCEE(IRTT). the Placement section organizes various programmes for improving the skill's of the students. It conducts various coaching classes and mock interviews for the students to overcome the fear of interviews.

The placement Cell maintains a rich alumni database through which the students keep themselves updated of the happenings in the corporate area. There is a healthy, co-ordinated effort between students and faculty from all departments with respect to all placement activities. Various reputed concerns visit our campus frequently to recruit our high caliber engineers. In plant training and industrial visits are arranged by the placement cell to strengthen the Industry - Institute relationship.

IRTT has estabilished Industry-Institute partnership(IIP) Cell. It offers courses on the latest developments in Engineering and Technology (on-campus and off-campus).Imparting in-plant training to students and faculty at industries
